WELCOME

Miller Sanitation Inc. is a locally owned and operated curbside residential trash collection business that offers a personal customer oriented service. Larry Miller is the President and CEO of the Company.

His father, Lawrence Miller had the idea of weighing the trash in 1991 so they could offer the customer a more competitive and fair billing rate. This was the niche that got Miller Sanitation off and running. They started with twenty seven friends and neighbors their first month and have grown ever since.

Larry's father had an orange 1977 Ford half-ton pickup and they built a six foot high box on the rear and that got the business started.  His father built a swinging certified scale to weigh the trash. When they first started it was 3.1 cents per pound plus a five dollar service charge. Larry would weigh each bag and total up the weight at the end of the month and add the five dollar service charge to the bill. The bills were hand wrote and mailed out to the customer. This was a fair billing system and bills were competitive. Over time, due to the extra work and simplifying the billing they came up with a competitive quarterly rate to compete in the industry and move forward. Miller Sanitation still offers the same dependable, personalized and competitive service to their customer twenty-eight years later.

Larry's father, Lawrence helped for two years driving the old pickup and he paid for the gas and the weight cost at the landfill, until Larry could generate enough money from the business to take it over. They spent two great years together while building Miller Sanitation. Larry appreciates the time together more valuable than the business itself. Lawrence was sixty-five years old when he took time to help his son build a business.

Lawrence offered his advice until his passing in February of 2017. He was ninety-one years old when he passed. Lawrence was a WW 11 Navy Vet, ran his own deep mines in the Broad Top area so families could survive, operated a D9 Dozer building highways, built his own home, and raised five children, (four sons and one daughter).

His blessing in life was his wife of fifty-six years Zelda Mae Harding Miller. Larry's mother Zelda is the toughest of all.  She raised five children, took care of the home, helped Lawrence build their home together and put up with one of the toughest man that the Broad Top ever knew. Only his personal family could understand this statement. Once just before Larry's fathers passing, he told Larry that he finally figured out what life was about. He said it’s only a fight to survive. Wow, that is wisdom

Larry has four sons and one daughter, the same as his mother and father had. Presently, Larry has three grandsons and two granddaughters. Two sons work full time with their father and Miller Sanitation is now serving just under thirteen hundred customers in the area. They operate two trucks, five days a week full time. Larry is a true believer in the free enterprise system and a true entrepreneur.  He stands behind the Capitalistic system and believes there's no free lunch!!!  Miller Sanitation Inc. appreciates all their customers and their value each one of them in a special way. They look forward to growing in the community and giving back quality service in return. Please feel free to call for information anytime.
